Model - the dramatic Danica
I know you've seen a lot of similar things on this site, but I'd like to think this is a bit different because for once the birds are not a manipulation.
Shot on location in Adelaide's CBD in a little side street against this massive public mural. The birds are stenciled on over the line work, which I altered by desaturating as it leant itself more to the image to have it nearly entirely black and white. Usually its bright orange. If you know the artist, or if you are the artist, tell me so I can inform them how utterly mad and incredibly cool they are for making it in the first place.

That, and I will hunt you down and break your knees. No seriously, I will. Ask anyone.
This is awesome! I've shot photos in this spot, there are some in my gallery. I lovelovelove the birds! Your desturated effect works really well, and I love the lantern (?) the model is holding. Really cool
hehe DAMN! Here I thought I'd stumbled across it all by myself. BLAST!
It is a lantern yeah because I don't have a small birdcage that she could have held - I do have one but it was practically the size of her! So this is the substitute. You can barely see the damn thing, but it sort of doubles as a birdcage and as a lantern/metaphor for a beacon home etc yadidah blah blah you get the drift
Haha, i found it when i was looking around FAD bar... my shots aren't that good though. The little cafe gallery place next to this wall has insane patterns all inside by this guy who i want to meet... he did the patterns on some other walls on alleys off hindley too. He's brilliant!
Oooh a birdcage is a really cool idea. Now i wanna shoot with a birdcage! Haha. You use excellent props in your shoots
Your conceptual work is really amazing. Is this shot going to be a part of a series at all? I'm still kicking myself for not coming to your exhibition opening - i had exams around that time
Damnit i love that wall.. you bet me to using it. You have done such an awesome job with it, and i adore that for once a photo like this isnt bullshit manipulated.
You're welcome babe! And not to worry, I didn't particularly want to be there either. I hate openings that I am involved in, I only like ones where I can go along, get sloshed and talk about art and LEAVE whenever the hell I want!
I don't know if there is a set series but there are some variations we did without the lantern. Or did you mean something in the theme rather than just the location?

I've walked past this spot a few times while walking between sites at work, always kicked myself for not having more than my phone on me at the time.
Nice photo, I didn't notice the small bird cage at first, but upon closer inspection, nice move.
Stuff like this makes me love Adelaide more and more, and makes me appreciate working in Adelaide even more
